Canadian Ladies Rugby Team train at Halton

The Canadian Ladies Rugby Team visited RAF Halton recently to use the sports facilities for a week long training camp in preparation for their game against England Ladies Team.

Jeannie Beha, Halton’s Commercial Business Manager, who coordinated the event, said: “We first had a Canadian team train at Halton back in 2004, since which time we have hosted the USA Ladies, NZ Ladies and are regularly visited by various RFUW teams for weekend training sessions (in addition to hosting annual Youth Rugby Camps during the summer for Saracens and London Wasps). RAF Halton has some excellent sports facilities – a fact which is clearly recognised by the visiting clubs – and when available for commercial use give the added benefit of generating much welcome additional revenue for the Station. The Canadian team enjoyed using Halton’s facilities during their 6 day visit but will no doubt be disappointed by the final result of their clash with England’s ladies, which they lost 32 – 3!!
