Halton cross country team success

Sgt Marcus Maxwell from the Defence Centre of Training Support is currently the OIC for Cross Country and Road Running at RAF Halton. February saw the RAF Cross Country Championships held at Halton and the Station team won the team prize for the first time in its history.

The Halton team secured the RAF team title overcoming stiff competition from much larger stations. Sgt Steve Frear (3rd), Cpl Kieran White (4th), Sgt Marcus Maxwell (12th), Sqn Ldr Matt Tope (33rd), Cpl Lee Hale (41st) and Chf Tech Dave Edwards (58th) beat RAF Coningsby and RAF High Wycombe into 2nd and 3rd places respectively. This is the first time in the history of the RAF Cross Country Championships that Halton has won this title which makes the achievement even more special.

Sgt Maxwell said: “As a result of this event myself and two other station personnel, Steve Frear and Kieran White, have been selected to represent the RAF at the Inter Services Cross Country Championships at HMS Raleigh later on in the year,   which again is a great achievement.”
