Hive cake sale for red nose day

A cake sale in aid of Red Nose Day has been held in the Trinity Community Centre at RAF Halton.

The sale was organised by HIVE lady, Shirley Cousins, who baked cakes and buns for the sale, ably assisted by Tracy Glover on the day.

Station Commander, Group Captain Simon Harper called in for a coffee and cake with his wife, Carolyn, and said: “It is always good to get out of the office to meet people and support a great cause.  Some delicious cakes have been donated and the sale has been well supported. My thanks go to Shirley and Tracy for a great morning.”

Shirley said: “We always try to think of something out of the ordinary to do for Red Nose Day but one of the favourites is always a cake sale.  Personnel, civilians and their families come and meet friends for coffee and cake and donate money for the charity. If there are any left over I will be taking them round the Station later.”

Red Nose Day is a national charity, where the country donates to both children and adults local and national charities.  The event culminates with a BBC1 production where celebrities ‘do something funny for money’. This year’s red noses were made in the shape of a dragon.
