Mark Webber presents inaugural RTS Award

Former Formula One racing driver and current Porsche Endurance team member Mark Webber visited Recruit Training Squadron, RAF Halton on 5th May 15, witnessing the graduation of No. 545 Arnold Intake. During the parade Mr Webber inaugurated the ‘Most Inspirational Recruit Training Squadron (RTS) JNCO Trainer Award’ with a formal presentation to RAF Halton Station Commander, Group Captain Adrian Burns.

The trophy was the brainchild of Chief Technician Ian Pemberton who wanted to formally mark the hard work, dedication and personal sacrifice that each JNCO working within RTS makes to the recruits during their transition from Civilian to Airman.

On completion of every 10-week Basic Recruit Training Course, the recruits of each intake will vote for the Corporal that has most inspired them during their time at RTS. The Typhoon Trophy (pictured) will then be formally presented twice a year to the overall winner and Most Inspirational RTS JNCO Trainer. The trophy aims to inspire, enthuse and congratulate JNCOs from all training delivery location at RTS.
