Swordfish Swimming Club

The Swordfish Swimming club is for dependant children of the RAF Halton community.

Lessons are each Monday evening during school term time utilising the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) Learn to Swim Framework (Stages 1-7) where the children are taught water safety along with stroke development.

Children from the age of 5 are able to come along and enjoy lessons taught by qualified teachers.

Currently we have WO Pam Daley, Level 2 teacher and OIC of the club, assisted by Mrs Miranda Moslin, Level 1 assistant teacher and Sqn Ldr Simon Oldfield, Level 1 assistant teacher.  In addition to the assistant teachers there are dedicated parents who get into the water to help support the children during the Stage 1 and 2 lessons.

Watching the children develop their confidence and ability in the water is extremely rewarding.  Some children progress quickly, some take longer than others, but all are encouraged to do what they can do within their own limits.  The efforts and achievements of the children are marked during the end of year gala where all the children take part in games and are then awarded a certificate by the Station Commander (although I think that some may be more interested in the free chocolate bar they get too!)

If you have a child you want to swim with us then please get in touch or equally if you have time to spare on a Monday evening we are always looking for helpers to get in the water and who knows, you may end up like me and run the club!!
