The Big Toddle

The Big Toddle is the UK’s biggest charity event for under 5s. It is a short sponsored walk for toddlers with all the proceeds going to help the UK’s most disadvantaged under 5s.

Toddlers and parents from the Rainbows and Rattles mother and toddler group collected donations in plastic buckets in aid of the Barnardos annual fund raiser. They set off around the Station, after a brief on road safety from PC Sam Bradley and Cpl Sarah Harris, visiting as many sections as their little legs could carry them before enjoying a picnic and, for some of them, a well deserved snooze!! The theme for this years’ collection was animals, so the toddlers had spent the week before making masks to wear on the day.

Roz Allen, who runs the toddler group, said: ‘It was a bit tiring for some of the younger ones, but they had fun in their masks. Thank you to Matt, Sarah and Wilma for all their help with the toddle. So far we have raised £140.96 but we are waiting to hear from some of our sponsors so there is more money to be counted.’ Four year old Phoebe Watson said she had: ‘really enjoyed collecting the money and some of us saw our daddies in their offices.’

If anyone is interested in coming along to the weekly sessions of the Mother and Toddler group they can contact Roz on 01296 625937 for more information. The group meet every Monday and Wednesday afternoons during term time but may change one of these groups to an afternoon if there is enough interest.
