Air Member for Personnel visits RAF
Air Marshal ‘Baz’ North, Deputy Commander Capability and Air Member for Personnel and Capability (DCom Cap and AMP&C) visited RAF Halton, accompanied by his wife Mrs Fiona North.
Both had a full programme of events for the day, with Air Marshal North concentrating on the training side of the Station, while Mrs North visited welfare and families facilities’. She was given a tour of the new Junior Ranks Snug facility at the Chiltern Club before visiting the Contact Welfare House. Later in the morning she spent time at the Trinity Community Centre where she met welfare staff and discussed the welfare workload during a brief by Paul Moore, Halton’s SSAFA caseworker.
Air Marshal North spent the morning receiving briefs on the Ofsted Report and Supervisory Care Directive before moving to the Initial Force Protection Flight (IFPT) to observe training and meet IFPT personnel. Flight Lieutenant Andy Claesens conducted a tour of the WW1 Trench System.
In the afternoon AM North acted as Reviewing Officer for the Graduation Parade of 512 Campion Intake on Recruit Training Squadron.
Mrs North said she found the Station’s commitment to wellbeing ‘incredible’ and she went on to say: ”The support and welfare nowadays is far removed from what it was just a few years ago and I am heartened by what I have learned today. The difference between my experiences of bringing up two daughters within the military environment and the facilities available to young families today is amazing.”
